Hoffman Estates is an affluent northern suburb of Chicago along Lake Michigan, population 54,000. The town was incorporated in 1959. The population is just over 50,000. It is the home of the Sears Holding Corporation as well as several of Chicago's professional sports teams. Hoffman Estates turned into a major subdivision with Centex Corporation

There is a mix of suburban home developments, malls, and business parks. There is at least one active adult community in Hoffman Estates. Median home price in late 2009 was $246,000 according to Zillow, well off the 2008 prices.
