Maysville is a very small town immediately adjacent to the giant Croatan National Forest. The population is just under 1000. It is a short drive to the nearest big town, Morehead City,  the southern access point to the Outer Banks.
 
Median home prices in mid 2009 were about $125,000, well below the national average.
