Tourism, real estate, and retail are important to the Paris economy. Most of the local plants have shut down and moved away. Tourism and retail go hand in hand. Limited shopping within the city limits. Tiny old fashioned shops carry food, lake toys and fishing/ hunting supplies close to the lake. Real estate is low.
