What Rutland Town is like for active adults
Rutland is the largest town in the Green Mountains of west-central Vermont.  Rutland Town surrounds the smaller City of Rutland, the Town has about 16,000 residents.  Nearby  Killington is the largest ski facility on the East Coast. Hiking, biking and walking trails, world class golf courses, superb restaurants, and many shops and boutiques are nearby. Several lakes in the region provide the community with access to water sports, fishing, and boating. There are 108 buildings in Rutland in the National Register of Historic Places, including the downtown district.

There are some active adult communities in the area (see link at top right).  Average home prices in late 2009 tended to be just over $100,000, well off from a few years earlier.

The Norman Rockwell Museum of Vermont. The Paramount Theater. Rutland has a small college,the College of St. Josephs. There are many events in the summertime such as Art In The Park and Friday Night Live, the Ethnic Festival, a Farmer's Market in downtown Rutland's Depot Park, and the Summer Concert Series.
