| What Southbury is like for active adults |
Southbury is a small town of about 19,000 in western New Haven County. It is near Oxford and east of Brookfield. It is also within easy driving distance (about 15 miles) from the cultural lights of New Haven and Stamford. Southbury is comprised of rural countryside, suburban neighborhoods, and many historic districts.
It is also home to the largest retirement community in Connecticut, Heritage Village (see Active Communities link at top right). This community has enough residents (4000) to tilt the average age in the town, which is about 46 years. The medi selling price of a home in Southbury has been very volatile in the late 2000's, bouncing up and down from over $300,000 to about $240,000 in late 2009. |
