| What DeLand is like for active adults |
De Land is a small town just west of Daytona Beach in North Florida. It is the home of Stetson University, named after its early benefactor, the founder of the famous hat company. Stetson Univ. was the first private college in Florida. Although the population is about 24,000 it is part of the Daytona metro which has a large population. It is the county seat of Volusia County.
The Downtown DeLand Historic District is a mixed-use neighborhood near downtown DeLand. A second area called the Garden District is also being developed. DeLand is also home to many growing companies and is diversified economically.
There is a very large active adult community in De Land (see link at top right). Average selling home prices in late 2009 in Daytona/Deltona/Ormond Beach were $150,000. |
