What Whiting is like for active adults

Whiting is a very small town within Manchester Township in interior New Jersey. Nearby towns include Lakehurst. Several retirement communities are incorporated within this township including Leisure Village West- Pine Lake Park with over 11,000 residents (see active communities at right for more communities).

The area is so popular with retirees that the average age in Whiting is a whopping 68. Many are escapees from the New York City metro. Average home prices in mid 2009 were about $140,000 in the Leisure Village/West Pine Lake are, so it is definitely a lower cost place to retire.
