What Carmel is like for active adults

This affluent north and west of New York City is growing in popularity for retirement, and Carmel is one of the nicer towns (population is about 34,000 and growing). It is near the west bank of the Hudson River, close to West Point and Danbury (CT). The Retreat at Carmel is conveniently located in the heart of New York’s beautiful Putnam County amidst acres of natural landscape with  breathtaking landscapes.  Gorgeous lakes, parks, and golf courses are nearby. There are several hamlets within Carmel, including Mahopac and Carmel.

Carmel is an affluent area near the beautiful Hudson River and the Catskill Mountains. Crime is exceptionally low. Lake Gleneida, formed by ice age glaciers, covers almost 168 acres in the center of town.
