Apex is a fast-growing town of about 32,000 that is just west of Raleigh, North Carolina. The population grew 50% between 2000-2007 - an indication of its popularity as a retirement community. Apex's motto is "The Peak of Good Living". The restored downtown area is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Apex has had its ups and downs in its history. Recently Apex is on the upswing with many new communities being developed here (see link at top right). Property values have been unusually strong, currently with an average sales value of about $240,000. |

The town is very affluent, has a low crime rate, and is under 15 miles from the attractions of Raleigh. Durham and UNC are also close by |

| It's a small town and a bit of a backwater compared to the college town excitement of Durham and its University of North Carolina. A 2006 major chemical fire in a waste processing facility was not good publicity for the town |
