Elkin is a small town with fantastic cost of living benefits,as well as extensive health care facilities. Average home prices in 2009 are below $80,000. Elkin is about 45 miles from Winston-Salem, the nearest city. |

| Elkin has been compared to Mayberry (of the Andy Griffith TV show). It is a friendly, but small town. Elkin has the largest WalMart in the state of North Carolina. |
