| What Roanoke is like for active adults |
Roanoke is a city of just under 100,000 in southwestern Virginia. It is the hub of that part of the state, as well as for southern West Virginia. Although the city itself is not growing, the metro area is, thanks to many retirees moving to the area. Roanoke has long had a very aggressive urban renewal focus that has brought renewed life to the traditional downtown. There are many cultural events, museums and festivals that bring people to the center of town.
There are many places for retirees to live in or near Roanoke, including some active adult or 55+ communities. Average home prices are in the low $180's. |
