What Fort Pierce is like for active adults
Fort Pierce, the Sunrise City, is a striving and vigorous community mid-way down the east coast of Florida. It is a popular retirement community for active adults with a population just over 40,000. The downtown, located on the riverfront of the Indian River Lagoon and a waterfront park, affords residents contemporary shopping, dining and a range of entertainment and activities. Main Street Fort Pierce, Inc., a comprehensive revitalization program designed to encourage economic development in conjunction with historic preservation, has been very successful in reviving the downtown. An example of its success is the number of community festivals that it brings here.

Located about halfway down the east coast of Florida, Fort Pierce represents an alternative to living in the big city or in a very affluent community. There are many miles of unspoiled beaches along the ocean, plus plenty of waterways connected to the intercoastal.

Fort Pierce is located in St. Lucie County. Here are more resources and information on what is like to retire in Florida
