Gilbert is a very fast growing town of over 200,000 located southeast of Phoenix. It is between Mesa and Chandler. The city is a bedroom community for Phoenix and Tempe, as well as home to many retirees living in active adult communities. Gilbert is characterized as more suburban and more of a town than nearby Chandler, although the latter has a stronger economic base. The town's average income is much higher than the rest of Arizona.
