What it's Like to Retire in Las Terrenas

Las Terrenas, located on the northeastern coast of the Samana Peninsula in the Dominican Republic, has become transformed within the last 30 years from a quite fishing village with no electricity, no cars and no telephones, to a popular tourist destination comprised of miles of white sandy beaches, hotels, resorts, bars, and restaurants. The peninsula is surrounded by the sea on its northern, southern and eastern coasts. Since the 1980’s, Las Terrenas has seen the redevelopment and transformation to a popular vacation spot for several nationalities which include French, German, Swiss, American and Spanish. Expats will find the city to be the most cosmopolitan on the peninsula with lots of shopping, restaurants, and nightlife. Picture of Street View of Las Terrenas courtesy of Wikipedia and UR3IRS.
