What It Is Like to Retire in San Buenaventura

San Buenaventura is a village near the southern (Pacific) coast of the beautiful and unspoiled country of Costa Rica (San Isidro del General  region). Where to Retire in San Buenaventura and Home Prices

There are some retirement target communities being built here (see Active Communities link at top right).
Median home prices here are  lower than what you would find in U.S. We were able to search on the Internet and find one American style home that appeared quite nice in the high $100s.


What Is Special about San Buenaventura

It is very near the coast and considerable infrastructure is being built here to support an influx of North American retirees. Costa Rica is relatively unspoiled, has a solid economy, and its government is extremely stable and progressive.

What Is Not Special about San Buenaventura

As in developing country there are some inconveniences.

Who Will Like Retirement in San Buenaventura

Many expatriates come to San Buenaventura and Costa Rica in general for its tropical beauty. Reduced cost of living allows a much grander lifestyle than can be had in the U.S.  But the most successful immigrants are those who come because they love the setting and the charm of living in a foreign country.
