There are approximately 18 villages offering a variety of lifestyles and housing. What people are saying about Lakewood Ranch

From Lakewood Ranch!
I moved to a wonderful neighborhood in Lakewood Ranch almost 3 years ago and love the life!! In our immediate community alone there is golf, tennis, pickleball, 50+ fitness classes, 2 fitness centers, several pools, new can be busy every day and night, or not as you choose. We are 30-40 minutes from the beach and downtown Sarasota - but don’t have to evacuate during hurricanes. So much to do - convenient to everything including multiple grocery stores, movies, plays, music...we love it!!

Any Retirees in Lakewood Ranch?
We are planning on building in a new Lakewood Ranch neighborhood called Esplanade, a golf course community. Does anyone have information or experience regarding Lakewood Ranch for retirees? Is it too far from the beach and Sarasota restaurants/cultural activities? Is it easy to meet people? Any negatives? LWR is partly in Sarasota and partly in Bradenton, and I've heard negatives about Bradenton...can anyone weigh in? Thanks!
