Evansvillle is a medium sized city of 116,000 in extreme southwestern Indiana, near the Illinois and Kentucky borders.  It is an industrial city with a diverse economy that has also has 2 small universities, the University of Southern Indiana and the University of Evansville, as well as and community college.  The city was founded on a giant horsehoe bend of the Ohio River. In 2008 it was voted the best city in the country in which "to live, work, and play" by the readers of Kiplingers. Evansville is considered to be in Tornado Alley, and has a high crime rate.

Average January temperature is in the 30's and in the high 70's in July.  The city is located on the Ohio RIver in Indiana's southwestern-most tip, and has had tornados go through, the most recent powerful one was in 2005.

The USS LST 325 Ship Memorial is the pride of Evansville and is the last navigable tank landing ship in operation; Willard Library; Mesher Park Zoo and Botanical Garden.

Medical Facilities

Deaconess Hospital and St. Mary's Medical Center serve Evansville.


Evansville has metro bus service, walkable and bike friendly paths, and a regional airport.
