Frederick is a town of about 60,000 in west-central Maryland. The city was an important crossroads in the Civil War and has several historical sites. The downtown is pedestrian-friendly and with shops and restaurants. Forbes magazine named Frederick's downtown one of the United State's "Greatest Neighborhoods" in 2010. The town is nicely laid out with a great infrastructure for walking and parks. There are shops and restaurants along a river walk in the downtown. Frederick is the home of The Delaplaine Visual Arts Education Center, the Maryland Shakespeare Festival, and a symphony orchestra.


Frederick's crime rate is higher than the national average.
