Laurel Maryland is a suburban town in Prince George's County of about 21,000 people. It is northeast of Washington DC and near Columbia (MD), the National Security Agency's headquarters, Johns Hopkins University's Applied Physics Laboratory, and the Laurel Park Racecourse. Laurel is northeast of Washington and southwest of Baltimore. The average July high temperature is 88 and the average January high is 42 (the average low is 24). The wettest month is May (5").

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The Laurel Cinema 6 shows first-run movies. Local performing arts outlets include the Venus Theatre, Laurel Mill Playhouse, Central Maryland Chorale, and Montpelier Arts Center. Annual festivals include LakeFest in May, Independence Day celebration each July, and the Main Street Festival


The crime rate is above average.

Medical Facilities

Laurel Regional Hospital serves Laurel. There are other hospitals in nearby Columbia and Silver Spring.



There are Two MARC train stations on the Camden Line to Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Baltimore International Airport has discount carriers like Southwest, while Reagan and Dulles offer other possibilities.
