What it's Like to Retire in Salisbury

Salisbury is an interesting town and seaport on the Wicomico River on the Delmarva Peninsula. Its population is about 28,000 in 2008.  Salisbury is known as the "crossroads of the Delmarva (Delaware, Maryland, Virginia) peninsula. The peninsula, somewhat off the beaten path because of its geography,  is popular with retirees for its more reasonable prices and laid back atmosphere.  Salisbury University's presence makes Salisbury a nice college town as well. There are active adult communities in Salisbury (see link at top right). The median home value in mid-2018 was $143,300, according to Zillow.com, and considers it a very hot Market at this time.

Deer's Head Center and Peninsula General Hospital server Salisbury and surrounding communities.
 

Transportation

Wicomico Regional Airport offers daily commercial service. Shore Transit offers bus service. Salisbury is about average in walkability when compared to other communities.
