Boulder City was built by the government in 1931 to house workers for the Hoover Dam. The population in 2011 was 15,000. It is located about 30 miles from Las Vegas. Today the town appeals to a mix of residents including a thriving senior community. Great small town atmosphere, the city has a strict growth policy. There are lots of local shops, restaurants, parks and other attractions. The city has several festivals throughout the year, a private airport and two public golf courses.
