Saranac Lake is a resort town in northeastern New York near the Canadian and Vermont borders. The population was 5,400 in 2010. The Village is in the Adirondacks Park and much fronts on Flower Lake. Many people have summer homes here in the 3 towns that make up Saranac Lake (St.Armand, Harrietstown, and North Elba). The town of Saranac is 30 miles away. Saranac Lake was named the best small town in New York State and also ranked in The 100 Best Small Towns in America. In 2006 the village was named one of the "Dozen Distinctive Destinations" by the National Trust for Historic Preservation.
