Fayetteville is a small city of about 200,000 in south central North Carolina. The city is the home of one of the largest army bases in the U.S., Fort Bragg. The 82nd Airborne is headquartered here. Fayetteville State University's presence makes this a college town. Although the military is by far the biggest economic and cultural force in the area, there are many retirement communities in the area, as well as many retirees who are former military.
