What It Is Like to Retire in Jacksonville OR

Jacksonville was one of the first gold mining towns in the state of Oregon. Although the gold has long played out, its legacy is a town of great beauty and history.  TheJacksonville Historic District is now a U.S. National Historic Landmark.  This town of 2,800, a few miles west of Medford in the Rogue Valley, attracts affluent people who tend to be a bit older than the Oregon average. The area has excellent outdoor recreation including many top golf courses. Photo of the Frank E. Bybee House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, courtesy of Wikipedia and Gail E.H. What people are saying about Jacksonville OR

Median Home Price in Jacksonville, Oregon
\"Homes in Jackonsville were selling at a median price of between $140,000 and $175,000 in 2013.\" This is total bs. I just went to trulia.com and the median home price is more like $1,500,000.00 - $550,000.00! $140,000.00 will get you house trailer or a small lot. Editor's note: Different sources will provide different numbers. Particularly in a small market it is hard to get an accurate number. If you go to City-Data.com (our preferred source) you will see the $140-170 numbers. If you go to Zillow the Zillow Home Value Index is $318,000. Usually we prefer the City-Data figures, but in this case we would lean toward the Zillow. Trulia is the least accurate in our opinion. But if you really want an idea, use Google or other search engine to find listings on real estate co sites, those will give you an idea.
