Located east of Seattle is one of the Northwest's most affluent suburbs, Redmond. Home to Microsoft and Nintendo, it is located on Lake Sammamish. The feel of the town is suburban but it has many lovely amenities. Many retirees are moving to several  new active adult communities built in the area .  There are also many nice neighborhoods in the town to choose from. The median home value in mid-2023 was $1,217,523, according to Zillow.

Redmond is known as "The bicycle capital of the Northwest" because of its annual bike races and Velodrome. It is home to many parks and several miles of trails for biking, hiking, running, and horseback riding. It also hosts several major corporations.

In addition to many wealthy folks who work at Microsoft or Nintendo, the area offers active adult communities.  It's a very pleasant town with great shopping and restaurants, so it appeals to people with resources who want the best in life.

The economy is diverse. Microsoft and Nintendo are just two of the big corporations. There are also many retail stores that attract shoppers from around the vicinity.

Climate and Physical Environment

Redmond is a suburb of Seattle. It's mostly east and a little north of Seattle, located at the top of Lake Sammamish. It experiences a slightly muted version of the Pacific Northwest climate - fairly wet winters and long summer days.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Redmond has a wide variety of performing arts including the Eastside Symphony, the Second Story Repertory theater company, and the Washington Academy of Performing Arts. There is an extensive array of public outdoor sculptures. Richmond Derby Days is an annual festival. The amphitheater in Marymoor Park hosts frequent concerts including big name performers.

Crime

The crime rate is about half the national average.

Medical facilities

Overlook Hospital Medical Center is in Bellevue, about 6 miles away. Evergreen Hospital Medical Center is 6 miles away in Kirkland.

Transportation

I 405 runs near town.  The Seattle Airport is very close.  Redmond is not a very walkable community.
