Foley is a rapidly growing town of 20,391 (2019) in southwestern Alabama on Mobile Bay. The population has risen 168% since 2000, much of that coming from retirees who are attracted to the area and lovely nearby Fairhope. The downtown Historic District has some lovely old homes, and the Antique Rose Trail is a mile-long rail trail that passes through downtown Foley and boasts many different types of roses. The area has become very popular with retirees thanks to its proximity to the coast, warm climate, and low cost of living. According to Zillow, the median home price was $236,984 in late 2021, up almost 20% over the past year.  There are a number of active communities here - see link at top left.


What Is Special about Foley

Low cost of living and being on Mobile Bay and all of its great watersports. Being near the utopian community of Fairhope is also a big plus. The City of Foley Antique Rose Trail features over five hundred varieties of fragrant roses. There is also a City Museum and Model Train Exhibit. The Foley Golf Course is 18 holes.

The crime rate is very high. This is also prime hurricane country.

Foley is not far from Mobile and 28 miles from Pensacola. The average July temp is about 80 and the average Jan temp is 50.

Foley has a historic district, museums, many dining choices and is host to several events and festivals throughout the year. The Foley Public Library has over 50,000 volumes, internet computers, children's reading programs and public meeting rooms.



The crime rate is more than double the national average.


Medical Facilities

South Baldwin Regional Hospital serves Foley. It is also a short drive to Pensacola.
