What It Is Like to Retire in Apache Junction

Apache Junction is a town of 38,499 (2020 Census), in the Phoenix Metro, just east of Mesa. This is one of the farther out areas of Phoenix that were badly affected by the housing bust of the late 2000's, but which has come back since. The nearby desert and the Superstition Mountains, a federal wilderness area, are quite beautiful. Photo of Flatiron Mountain in the Superstitions courtesy of Molly Brady. What people are saying about Apache Junction

Pizza Oven
Apache Junction is brutally hot during the summer months, but so is everywhere in the Phoenix metro area, and most of Arizona. People considering a move to this area should be ready for perpetual, serious heat from May through October. Also, there are some medical facilities in this area, but for the most part plan on traveling in/around Phoenix and Scottsdale for most specialty care. Shopping for essentials is easy in the local area, but anything more exotic will require a trip into the Phoenix/Scottsdale areas.

Summers are scorching
I don\'t know who came up with the average temperature in Apache Junction being 90 in July. That is ridiculous. The temps from May to September are more often than not over 100 and in July the probably top out at 110+. It may be 90 at midnight.....LOL
