Eustis is a small town in the heart of Lake County, Florida, with a population of about 20,000. It was established in 1883, when the shoreline along Lake Eustis was newly discovered as a beautiful spot for both tourism and the citrus industry. Today, the waterfront town has a vibrant downtown, community parks, and a Lake Walk which extends along the shoreline. It is committed to clean and green neighborhoods, along with being designated a Florida Main Street City and a Florida Tree City. Eustis is not considered a walkable town, except for the downtown area.  The crime rate is a little higher than the national average.

Those looking for a walkable downtown and a waterfront community would enjoy living here. There is a library, a techical college, and a hosptial nearby.  The town hosts events and festivals, and Disney World is just 40 miles away.

January's average temperature is 60 degrees, July's average temperature is 81.

 

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Ferran Park is located on the shores of Lake Eustis and features walking paths, an aquatic center, and The Alice McClelland Memorial bandshell which hosts a variety of entertainment and is listed n the National Register of Historic Places; a popular annual event is GeorgeFest, George Washington's Birthday celebration held each February since 1902, and includes a parade, arts and crafts, and a sailing regatta; the town's merchants hosts street parties once a month with music and dancing; The Eustis Art League and those of neighboring towns sponsor shows, and the Bay Street Players stage several live productions each year; The Clifford house, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, was once the cultural center of Eustis and today is home to the Eustis Historical Museum and Preservation Society.

 

Crime

The crime rate here is a little lower than the national average with most incidents involving theft.

 

Medical facilities

Florida Hospital Waterman is in Tavares, just a couple of miles away.

 

Transportation

The nearest large airport is in Orlando, about 40 miles away.
