Hudson is a small town on Florida's West coast, 30 miles from Clearwater, and about 50 miles above Tampa. With a population of about 13,000, it's a popular town with retirees, and has a median age of 57. In the late 1950's, the Army Corps of Engineers dug 25 miles of canals as if they were streets, and many waterfront homes were built here. Boating and fishing are popular, and Hudson is home to three semiprivate golf courses, recreation centers, and Hudson Beach which was built in the 1960's. It also has a number of vacation resorts, along with camping and RV sites.

There are many types of housing in Hudson from manufactured homes and RV sites, to new developments of single family homes and villas.  Zillow reports the median home value to be $304,326 in mid-2022.


What Is Special about Hudson

Hudson is made up of many canals that lead to the Gulf for fishing and boating and Hudson Beach is a popular spot and has restaurants and picnic areas. The small town also boasts three golf courses, a recreation center and a dinner theater.


What Is Not Special about Hudson

Hudson offers a lot of outdoor activity so if you are not an outdoorsy person, you may not find a lot to do; Summer are hot; not considered to be a walkable community

Retirees who want a small town with a low cost of living would enjoy living here. Hudson is also home to a hospital and a nice beach.

Engle Memorial Park feature indoor and outdoor sports and recreation centers, and Hudson has three golf courses. The Show Palace Dinner Theater features dinner shows and musical productions. The town also has a farmers market and hosts several festivals. Clearwater and Tampa are nearby and provide the cultural scene.

Regional Medical Center Bayonet Point is in Hudson.



St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport is about 35 miles away, and Tampa's International Airport is 40 miles away. Amtrak is in Spring Hill about 10 miles from Hudson.
