Winter Garden is located in central Florida on Lake Apopka, just west of Olando, with a population of 34,568 (2010 census). The former citrus town changed into a tourist destination in the 1960's with the opening of Walt Disney World, which has helped it to grow both economically and culturally. Winter Garden's historic downtown is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places and is home to museums, a performing arts center, and one of the top Farmers Market in Central Florida. The West Orange Trail passes through downtown Winter Garden, which is a multi-use rail trail for hikers, bikers, joggers and skaters that extends for 22 miles through Orange County.
