Dallas is a suburb of about 10,000 people located just to the west of Atlanta. The town is home to battle sites from the American Civil War during 1864, with many of them being preserved, and is home to three schools of higher education. What is special about Dallas

Dallas is a small historic town located about 35 miles from downtown. In the early 2000's the town began to refurbish the downtown with a large courtyard, fountain and gazebo while preserving the historic downtown buildings. There are several parks located within Dallas, and it is part of the Silver Comet Trail which runs from Georgia to Alabama.
 

What is not special about Dallas

The town may be too small for some, and it is not considered walkable or bikable.
 

Who will like retirement in Dallas

Retirees who want to live in a small, historic, and college town not far from a large city (Atlanta), may enjoy living in Dallas. The price of real estate is lower than the national average, as is the crime rate. The Silver Comet Trail is a great place for walking and biking, and there is a public swimming pool and many parks within the town. Dallas offers health care facilities, with the nearest hospital just a few miles away.
