Peachtree City is a planned community about 25 miles south of Atlanta, Georgia.  Although it is famous for its golf cart oriented transportation system, it is not a 55+ community - it is for people of all ages - the median age is 37.5. The population was about 35,000 in 2008. Peachtree City is actually made up of 5 separate communities: Aberdeen, Braelinn, Glenloch, Kedron, and Wilksmoor (the newest).  Each has its own shopping areas, recreational facilities, and elementary schools. The Avenue is the major shopping center with stores and restaurants of all kinds as you enter the area. Residents refer to Peachtree City as "The Bubble", an acknowledgement that it is so complete, it is a world unto itself. The city's amenities include four swimming pools, a soccer complex, an ALTA-approved tennis center, baseball, softball, and football fields, a 2,000-seat amphitheater, a BMX track, a senior center, a teen center, numerous parks and playgrounds, as well as the Kedron Fieldhouse and Acquatic Center. Where to Retire in Peachtree City and Home Prices

Peachtree City is one of the wealthiest towns in Georgia with an average income over $80,000. Zillow reports the median home value to be $364,245 in early 2021.

What Is Special about Peachtree City

CNN Money Magazine chose Peachtree City as one of the 100 best places to live in 2005. It is one of the largest and most successful planned communities in the world. Peachtree City is a designated Free Trade Zone. Peachtree City has every kind of amenity, including 3 golf courses and its own airfield. Believe it or not, golf carts are often blamed for traffic congestion.

Who Will Like Retirement in Peachtree City

There are probably more people who are not retired who live here than retired. Many people come here to raise their families in an idyllic setting - kids growing up here refer to PC as "The Bubble". Retirees who would like an all-ages planned community with several neighborhoods (such as Cresswind Peachtree City), a senior center, aquatic center,golf courses, tennis center,a huge lake, many parks and and an amphitheater would enjoy living here. The crime rate is very low, and you can drive your golf cart anywhere in this self-contained world.


Local Economy Is Driven by

Peachtree City has its own industrial park with many major companies having operations here. It also has several downtowns.

Climate and Physical Environment

The median January temperature is in the low 40's.  The median July temp is about 80.  Peachtree City is in mid-western Georgia.

Restaurants & Cultural Scene

The Frederick Brown Jr. Amphitheater is the local center of culture. There is a continuing series of festivals and exhibitions throughout the year. The library is huge and modern.


The crime rate in Peachtree City is about 1/3 the national average.

Medical Facilities

Fayette Community Hospital is 8 miles away.


Many households own a golf cart (9000+ and more than any city in the world), which is used as an extra vehicle for local transportation. Many streets are designated for golf cart use. Peachtree City has its own airfield, Falcon Field, which is home to 165 aircraft.
