Plainfield, Illinois, a suburb of Chicago, is a growing town of 41,734, (2013 census), located in Will County. The area was orginally called Walker' Grove until its incorporation in 1834. The median household income is very high and reported to be over $108,000. The DuPage River which runs along the town, provides outdoor recreation. Plainfield has a historic district, and is also home to the Lake Renwick Heron Rookery where visitors can view egrets and herons.
