Centreville : Maryland

What it's Like to Retire in Centreville

Centreville is a small town of just under 2000 people and the county seat of Queen Anne's County.  Located, not surprisingly, in the center of the state, it is a charming small town. It is home to one of the oldest courthouses in the country.

The old town has a plentiful stock of Victorian and other older homes with wrap-around porches, along with the interesting infrastructure of a town that goes back to colonial days. Picture of Centreville Courthouse courtesy of Wikipedia and S.W. Clyde.

Where to Retire in Centreville and Home Prices

Home prices were very volatile over the past few years, falling back dramatically to the low $200's in 2008 and then rising to over $300,000 in 2010. The median home value was $347,200 in early 2019.  It is easy to see why retiring baby boomers would be attracted to this town that is in a quiet area of Maryland close to the Cheseapeake. There is at least 1 active adult community in Centreville (see link at left).
