What it's Like to Retire in Concord

Concord is a town of about 42,000 in southern New Hamshire, conveniently near the juncture of I 93 and I 89. It is home to the elite prep school of St. Pauls, which graduates a very high percentage of future leaders. Franklin Pearce Law School is based here as well as a community college. What is special about Concord

The historic Eagle Hotel has hosted a number of American Presidents including U.S. Grant, Rutherford Hayes, and Richard Nixon. Abraham Lincoln spoke at the old Phenix Hall.  Beaver Meadow is the oldest golf course in New Hampshire. It is the capital of the state. NH is considered a low tax state.

What is not special about Concord

For people looking for an interesting mid-sized town in a low tax state in the northeast, Concord might fit the bill.

Local economy is driven by

The State capital as well as the private schools in the area.  There is some high tech industry in the region.

Climate and Physical Environment

The median January temperature is about 20 degrees-it is in southern New Hampshire; the average July temperature is about 70 degrees.


Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Concord has many landmarks and other tourist attractions in it. Probably the largest is the New Hampshire State House. Two other institutions include the Capitol Center for the Arts and the New Hampshire Historical Society.


Crime is well below average.

I 89 and I 93 intersect  near Concord. The city has a municipal airport, and Manchester is not too far.
