What it's Like to Retire in Ridge-Long Island

Ridge is a town in Suffolk County, Long Island of about 13,000 people. It is north of I 495 and near Manorville and Medford. 

Because it is some distance from NYC it is becoming home to many active adult communities, including some large ones (see Active Adult Communities link at top right). Average home prices were about $180,000 in mid-2014, according to City-Data.  The Zillow Home Value Index was $215,500.

Ridge is near Manorville on the eastern end of Long Island, west of where the North Folk and South Fork begin.  The average July high temperature is 84 and the average January low is 24. The wettest month is January (4.4")
