Hertford is a small town located in North Carolina's Inner Banks region.The population was 2,185 at the 2008 census. Hertford is the county seat of Perquiman county. This town in northeastern NC stretches from the Albemarle Sound to the Great Dismal Swamp, Perquimans means "Land of Beautiful Women." Formerly a lumber center, agriculture is now the main industry.
