Rock Hill is a very fast growing community in north central South Carolina, south of Charlotte. The population is approximately 74,372 (2020 Census), and the household income is approximately $52,000.  It serves as a suburb to the Charlotte Metro. Rock Hill was formerly a textile town although that industry has been in serious decline, and it has transitioned to a manufacturing community. There are 3 colleges here including Winthrop College, a liberal arts institution with 7,000 students. The city has been recognized with several awards for its outstanding schools, parks, and its southern hospitality. Where to Retire in Rock Hill and Home Prices

The median sale price of a home was $305,673 in mid-2022, according to Zillow, and about a 25% increase over the past year. There are active adult communities in the area (see link at top).

The town is growing very fast with attendant traffic and crime problems.
 

Who Will Like Retirement in Rock Hill

Retirees will find Rock Hill to be senior-friendly with the OWLS Club (Older Wiser Loving Seniors) which offers many programs and activities. Getting around the community is easy with a walkable downtown along with bike paths and bike lanes around the the town. There is also public transportation, and an international airport nearby in Charlotte. Rock Hill also has a hospital, library, is a college town and hosts many community events and activities.

Rock Hill is a bicycle-friendly community with bike routes throughout the city. The Charlotte Area Transit System offers express bus service from Rock Hill to Charlotte. The nearest international airport is in Charlotte, about 20 miles away.
