The city's downtown was featured in Ideal Living because of its streets filled with local art, lofts, cafés, live music, and beautiful old buildings.

Kingsport is popular with retirees for a variety of reasons. The climate is mild in summer due to its proximity to the mountains. There are over 20 golf courses within 20 miles. Tennessee is a low-cost, low-tax state. And the mountains provide many recreational opportunities. What Is Special about Kingsport

Along with our access to excellent health care, we also are a wonderful city for walking.  Bays Mountain Park is very popular. The city has won numerous awards including "Most Walkable City", All American City, etc. Kingsport is a serious golf capital contender with 5 golf courses in the city and 17 more within 18 miles. There is an active farmers market.

The crime rate is above average.
