What it's Like to Retire in Crystal Beach

Crystal Beach is an unincorporated town near Port Bolivar on the southeast coast of Texas, in Bolivar County. The Bolivar Peninsula features 27 miles of pristine beaches, famous for fishing and camping. The Bolivar Lighthouse dates back to 1872. It is a popular destination for retirees as well as tourist destination. It is not far Galveston as the crow flies but a very long drive - since there is a gap in the barrier island between them.  Photo of Town Hall courtesy of Wikipedia and WhisperToMe.

.... pension buyout
On June 1st, General Motors announced their intention of reducing its pension plan liability by an estimated 26 billion dollars. The plan allows an option for select U.S. GM retirees to accept a lump-sum offer, while other GM retirees continue their monthly pension plan payment. This website offers a helpful guide that outlines the new plan details: http://www.gm-pension-buyout.com. Because of the complexities that a lump-sum buyout offers, it is suggested to meet with a qualified financial advisor before the plan deadline of July 20, 2012.
