Lehi is a city in the Provo area in the north central part of the state. The population of 75,907 (2020 Census) grew over 266% since the year 2000. The city is home to the Lehi Roller Mills, a flour mill featured in the movie Footloose. Many retirees have moved to some of the new developments in the area.  The city is at the head of Utah Lake which, along with the area's mountains, is a prime recreation spot.

There are active adult communities in the area, along with other developments that are open to people of all ages. The median home value in mid-2022 was $644,247, which reflects a 30% increase over the past year, according to Zillow.  See Active Communities link at left.


What Is Special about Lehi

Thanksgiving Point is a destination, museum complex, and estate garden founded in 1995. It consists of four main attractions: Thanksgiving Point Gardens, Thanksgiving Point Golf Course, the Museum of Ancient Life, and Farm Country. Approximately 1.45 million people visit Thanksgiving Point each year. There is an annual tulip festival here along with a Megaplex and shopping. The Legacy Recreation Center is a huge complex (106,000 sq.ft) with 3 gyms, indoor pool, fitness center, and many interesting programs.


What Is Not Special about Lehi

The growth rate is quite high. Non-mormons might find it difficult here.


Who Will Like Retirement in Lehi

People who like outdoor recreation like skiing, hiking, and boating will like Lehi.  The average age is quite young, about 26 years.


Local Economy Is Driven by

Thanksgiving Point tourism; technical and scientific services. Adobe Systems is building a major campus here.


Climate and Physical Environment

The median January temperature is in the high 20's.  It is near the head of Utah Lake and adjacent mountains.


Restaurants & Cultural Scene

Thanksgiving Point is the focus of the local entertainment scene.



The crime rate is much lower than the U.S. average.


Medical Facilities

American Fork Hospital is 4 miles away.



Amtrak station is approximately 16 miles away in Provo, UT. I 15 goes through the city. There is bus service to Provo and a commuter rail connection,  FrontRunner South, is being built.
