Roseville is a rapidly growing community in northern California about 20 miles from Sacramento. The population increased almost 50% between 2000 and 2010 (to 119,000). The town has spent tens of millions of dollars to redevelop its aging center. As a result it has attracted significant development and is now a shopping and commercial hub for the area. Roseville has an extremely ambitious master plan. The Vernon Streetscape Project is complete, and its Historic District and Riverside Corridor Streetscape Projects will be next. The infrastructure in place and planned has been very attractive for retirees, who are moving to the area in large numbers. Among other reasons, there is the potential to get a job here.

Active adult communities (see link at top left) are also being created here as an alternative to the more expensive California coast. According to the National Association of Realtors, the median sale price of a home in the Sacramento-Roseville-Arden-Arcade area during the 1st quarter of 2021, was $465,000, which reflects an 18.5% increase from a year earlier.
What Is Special about Roseville
The shopping, restaurants, and commercial attractions of Rosedale are very appealing. For example almost every major retail chain, such as Macy's, is available here. Westfield Galleria at Roseville is the largest shopping comples. Its ambitious master plan has made this an attractive community with a strong tax base.
What Is Not Special about Roseville
For people who don't like development and big box shopping, Roseville would not be a good place.
Who Will Like Retirement in Roseville
People who like living in a progressive community with plenty to do will enjoy a Roseville retirement. There are a lot of outdoor activiities to pursue in and around Roseville. Rosevillians are Shoppers! The average age, 36, is almost 10 years below the CA average.

Climate and Physical Environment
Roseville is in north central California near Sacramento. Dry Creek is one of the streams that runs through the area. The average January low is 39 and the high is 54. Winters are cool and wet, summers are hot and dry.
Restaurants & Cultural Scene
Roseville is the cultural center of the region. 3rd Saturday Art Tours are a regular event. The Carnegie Museum provides a walking tour of historic Roseville.
Crime in Roseville is just under the national average.
Although there are several Sacramento hospitals within 10 miles, Kaiser Permanente is building a major hospital here, the Women's and Children's Hospital.
There is an AMTRAK station in Roseville; Sacromento International Airport is about 21 miles; I 80 is adjacent; Roseville is not a walkable community.
