Residential areas of the county are primarily single-family neighborhoods, along with many condos and villas. An amazing 40% of the homes have water access thanks to a maze of canals and estuaries, complete with hundreds of species of marine life. Dozens of active adult developments, neighborhoods, and gated communities of every type are available in Cape Coral (see link at right). Some have facilities like golf courses,clubhouses, or tennis courts - some have no facilities.
Compared to nearby Punta Gorda this is not a high profile town nor is it pretentious - but it can offer a very nice lifestyle for a reasonable amount of money. The median home value was $172,800 in late 2017, according to Zillow.
