You asked for it, and here it is - our newest list of affordable places to retire. The emphasis on this list is twofold - we wanted to identify inexpensive retirement towns, but also find places that are highly livable. All the towns on this list have high cultural opportunities.  We used our Advanced Search to find them.
Bentonville, AR
This Victorian resort village in the northwest corner of Arkansas has steep winding streets and well-preserved Victorian-era homes. Some say it has an alpine feeling. It is famous for its outdoor Passion Play.

Our friend  Ed gave Topretirements a nice compliment recently. He said he thought our Advanced Search is a a great database and resource  - the best retirement calculator he's seen.  In fact he went on to say in his opinion it is way more useful than our Retirement Ranger. Thanks Ed - we used  our Advanced Search tool to develop this week's list of 10 Affordable (and Livable) Places to Retire!
Turrialba, Costa Rica
Located in the San Joaquin Valley, Bakersfield has several things going for it as a retirement spot.  For one, it is close to the Sierra Nevada's outdoor recreation. For another, it is one of the few places in CA where you can buy a home for less than the national median.  It has 2 colleges, and a great collection of Basque restaurants.
