Welcome to our occasional weekend newsletter, which focuses on interesting active adult and 55+ communities and the issues attached to them.
Many folks are pre-disposed to the opinion that HOA's are the enemy. Yet many others, particularly those who live in a community with an effective Home Owners Association, appreciate the need for them. This article looks at the good, the bad, and the just plain ugly aspects of what are sometimes called Community Associations.
An Active Community Sampler
In the rest of this eNewsletter we bring to your attention a small sample of the many fine active adult communities from around the U.S. and world that are described on this site. Our National Directory features reviews of  almost 1200 active communities of all types and sizes. Take some time exploring that directory to find places that appeal to you (Use Advanced Search to hone in on specific amenities, type of community, state, or price range)
The Trilogy brand has communities all over California.  These communities tend to be priced in the intermediate to high range. This one has a great location in the Coachella Valley.  The PGA played a Skins Game tournament on their golf course.
If you are drawn to South Carolina's low country you might want to look at Dataw Island. This large community on the water has a marina, 2 championship golf courses, and beautiful homes. It's not too far from Savannah and Charleston.
Up in north Georgia is a gated, low-maintenance community that provides a relaxing lifestyle. Be as active as you want with fitness center, tennis, walking trails, and many activities. Shopping and dining at the entrance to the community. We are proud to have Soleil Laurel Canyon as  a Top Listing at Topretirements.com for the second year.
