A tip of the hat to the original Sun City, which recently celebrated its 51st birthday. Founded by Del Webb, the whole idea of active adult communities got started here in 1960.
Academy Village - Tucson, AZ
Billed as the "Smart Place to Retire", Academy Village is a most unusual community. It specializes in cultural programs - lectures, classes, concerts and more. In one recent year there were 175 events.  
Tradition - a Master Planned Community in Port St. Lucie, FL
This fascinating community has 7 different villages clustered around a town center. The master plan allows for walking and biking around 400 acres of parks, lakes, and public areas.
