Active Communities Hot Trends for 2011
Welcome to our occasional weekend newsletter, which focuses on interesting active adult and 55+ communities.  This week's feature reports on the insights we learned from our extensive interviews with marketing execs at some of America's top active communities.
Learn what's hot, and not so hot, in the world of active adult communities. Make no mistake, today communities are not what they were 5 years ago.  This article reports on the results of our interviews with execs from some of America's leading active adult communities.
Community Profiles:
Shenandoah - Winchester, Virginia
This community surrounds 120-acre Lake Frederick, surrounded in turn by the storied Blue Ridge and Allegheny Mountains.  But the real draw is the friendliness, energy, and enthusiasm of the residents. We are proud to have Shenandoah as a Showcase Community at Topretirements.
Achasta - Dahlonega, GA
Championship golf is at the center of this community, thanks to the par-72, 6,995-yard Achasta Golf Course, a walkable Jack Nicklaus Signature Design. Many holes along the Chestatee River. Single family homes.

Rancho Viejo -  Santa Fe, NM
At Rancho Viejo, 50 percent of the community is preserved as natural open space and parks. Uniquely designed as a collection of villages, each has its own central gathering plaza and bordering preserved open space.
