Canadian Snowbirds Have Their Wings Clipped
Category: Travel
December 30, 2020 – A new survey from SnowbirdAdvisor.ca estimates that only 31% of Canadian snowbirds will make the trip south this winter. Problems crossing the U.S. border for non-essential travel, quarantines, and concerns about catching Covid are some of the reasons. Besides the impact on Canadians who will have to spend a winter in the cold, the communities that rely on them to support their winter economies will also suffer. According to the website about 1 million Canadians ordinarily spend the winter in the U.S. or some other warm climate.

I didn't think about this but now wonder if we will see a difference in the numbers at the ski resort we go to in New York state. A large number of Canadians have villas and ski homes there. We always say if someone lets us go ahead or helps us with the chair lift "They must be from Canada". They seem to be the polite skiers.

We live in a large condominium community and have noticed several units have not been occupied yet. I don't know all of the folks on our floor, but do know quite a few Canadian retirees come here so this explains maybe why they are missing. I did see an article recently that said Canadians can't drive their RVs across the border since it is closed, but they can have them towed across and so they fly into the US and meet up with the RV. A lot to consider these days. Not sure I would go to the expense and trouble to do that, especially this winter.

Happy 2021 To All!! Yes; I am a Canadian Snowbird & have had my Wings clipped! But, so far Life is Green Side Up, I am still Kicking & still having a Good Time in my own Mind!!
The "Start Reasons" I am still kicking are because of Respect for the Guidelines, Lifestyle Restrictions introduced & guided by Dr. Fauci.
& to that; Best Wishes in 2021 prevail.
