Category: Uncategorized

April 1, 2025 — HireaHelper.com publishes a very interesting study of retirement moves every year. Since they rely on Census Data and other , it is pretty solid info. The most surprising thing in the report was that Massachusetts was the stop state for retirees who “moved specifically to retire” (see distinction below). A link to the full report is at bottom of article.

Here are some of their important findings:

  • In 2024, 258,000 Americans relocated for retirement, a steep 23.8% drop from 2023.

I'm not moving to retire but for health reasons & because I miss the ocean. I can't live in the SW's super dry climate anymore. It's affecting my sinuses which is wearing down my immune system because I'm sick 24/7. Doesn't matter what I take I'm still dealing with symptoms. So it's time to go. I lived in CA but will never ever go back not even to visit. I'm headed to FL. Not really liking the high cost of living there but I have friends there, and the humidity is much needed to eliminate the persistent dry weather allergies, dryer than dry skin which makes me look older than I am, dry brittle hair from the hard water and dry climate, and scaly feet. Dry climates are not good places for a lot of people but really bad if you're over the age of 60. It ages you very fast. I can't wait to get out of here. Feb. 2026 can't come fast enough. My things are all packed and most of it is in storage.
